Moving money between your HSBC Bank and HSI Brokerage accounts

Transfer money quickly, easily and securely between your HSBC Bank USA N.A. (“HSBC Bank”) and HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. (“HSI”) accounts. Find out how, using HSBC Bank online banking.

Transferring money between my HSBC Bank and HSI Brokerage accounts

You can use HSBC Bank online banking to transfer available cash positions between your eligible HSI Brokerage accounts and HSBC Bank Checking or Savings accounts. Some limitations may apply.

Before you get started, you’ll need:

  • an eligible HSI Brokerage account
  • a like titled HSBC Bank checking or savings account (name or names on the deposit and brokerage accounts match)
  • standing instructions between the accounts the funds are being transferred to and from

Transfers made before 2pm ET will be processed the same business day. Any transfers initiated after 2pm ET will be completed the following business day.

To add standing instructions between existing HSBC Bank accounts and HSI Brokerage accounts, call the Wealth Services Desk at 800.662.3343 between 8am-6pm ET Monday through Friday and if you are outside the US or Canada: 847.876.1574.

Making the transfer

1. Log on

On online banking, go to 'Useful links' and select 'Transfers'.

2. Select accounts

Choose the HSBC Deposit account or HSI Brokerage account you want to transfer from, and the account you want to transfer the money to.

3. Enter amount

Enter the amount you want to transfer and select 'Continue'. Then follow the on-screen instructions.

Additional information

Accounts eligible for sending and receiving these transfers include all HSBC Checking and Deposit accounts, except for Certificates of Deposit (CDs), Foreign Currency accounts, Term Deposit accounts, Trust accounts, Corporate accounts. In addition, HSI IRA accounts are not eligible to send or receive these transfers.


Transfers from a Joint Brokerage account to an Individual Deposit account are not permitted.


Transfers may require additional review or approval. Funds availability and posting may be delayed if additional information is required.

    Please check your transfer details carefully before confirming.

    Please note, your cash balance from your HSBC Securities account must have sufficient funds to complete the transfer. *Available Margin balances may not be transferred.
