HSBC Gets the Ball Rolling in Support of Financial Education for Area Youth
World's Largest Bowl-A-Thon Raises Money for Junior Achievement of Chicago

ADDISON, Ill. - More than 1,000 HSBC - North America employees, families and friends took part in the world's largest bowling charity event, raising more than $450,000 for Junior Achievement of Chicago, an affiliate of the world's largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and entrepreneurship.
The Chicago-area Bowl-A-Thon is the principal component of the annual, nationwide HSBC-JA charity fundraiser that benefits Junior Achievement affiliates across the country. The March 25 event was held at Stardust Bowl in Addison, IL, one of the country's biggest 10-pin bowling centers, with 84 consecutive bowling lanes.
"Once again, HSBC employees, along with their families and friends, turned out in full force to support Junior Achievement and the wonderful educational programs it offers our nation's youth," said Tom Detelich, Group General Manager and Group Executive for HSBC - North America. "This year's HSBC-JA Bowl-A-Thon will help fund economics education for 25,000 young people throughout Chicagoland."

Since 1987, more than 200,000 Chicago area students have received JA programs thanks to HSBC employees, family and friends who have participated in this event. Raising more than $5.3 million for JA of Chicago over the last 20+ years, HSBC's total Bowl-A-Thon donations to JA Chicago rank best among all Chicago area corporations.
This year's event was HSBC's 21st JA Chicago Bowl-A-Thon and is part of the company's seventh annual HSBC-JA national Bowl-A-Thon. Employees from more than 65 HSBC facilities and offices nationwide participated, making the "World's Largest Bowl-A-Thon" bigger and better than ever before.
