HSBC Credit Center Branches Launch Spanish-Language Home-Purchase Options for Texas and California Consumers
12 September 2006
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, Ill. -- HSBC Credit Center, Inc., an indirect subsidiary of HSBC North America Holdings Inc., today announced that it now offers a convenient new service that enables homebuyers in Texas and California to complete the entire mortgage application and approval process, including all documentation, in Spanish. The bilingual application service is offered at branch offices of HSBC Credit Centers.
"HSBC is making it easier for consumers in Texas and California - particularly those who prefer to conduct business in Spanish - to start down the path to achieving the dream of homeownership," said Jorge Cordon, HSBC Consumer Lending managing director of operations. "Relatively few options exist for Spanish-speaking customers who want to complete the home-buying process in Spanish. We're glad to be a leader in providing those options."
HSBC operates 16 full-service HSBC Credit Center branches, staffed with certified bilingual employees in the Texas cities of Pasadena, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth and El Paso, and in the California cities of San Fernando, North Hills, Chula Vista, El Monte, Riverside, Huntington Park, Bell Gardens and Santa Ana.
The home purchase loan choices offered by HSBC Credit Center offices include traditional first mortgage fixed rate and adjustable rate loans, and 40-year mortgage options.
"I commend HSBC for easing the process for Spanish-speaking home-buyers to fully understand all the important details of the home ownership process by providing documents in Spanish," said Martin Castro, president and chief executive officer of the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation. "This has been long overdue and I'm delighted HSBC has chosen to be proactive in delivering this important service."
HSBC Credit Center branches also offer low-cost money transfer services, enabling consumers in California - including those who do not hold HSBC accounts - to send up to $2,500 from branch and satellite offices to family and friends in Mexico for as little as $3 per transfer. Funds can be picked up at HSBC Mexico offices in U.S. dollars or in Mexican pesos at no additional charge.
In addition, HSBC Credit Center branches offer a variety of consumer loan products - including personal loans, home equity loans and mortgage refinance loans - to help customers pay off higher interest debt or to fund expenses like home repairs and college education.
