HSBC Has Rx For New Jersey Residents Who Need Cash

Bank expands New Jersey reach by branding 59 ATMs in Walgreens stores

NEW YORK -- HSBC Bank USA, N.A., the U.S. banking unit of one of the world's largest financial services companies, announced today it has reached an agreement to brand ATMs in as many as 59 Walgreens stores in Northern New Jersey. The branding agreement, which is with Cardtronics, Inc., the world's largest owner/operator of ATMs, follows HSBC's expansion into the state which began in June 2005.

By placing its brand on ATMs located in selected Walgreens stores, HSBC will significantly increase the number of locations throughout northern New Jersey, and make it more convenient for the bank's growing number of customers to access their cash surcharge free.  The HSBC-branded ATMs are expected to be installed by June. Since opening its first New Jersey branch in Hillside 10 months ago, HSBC has opened branches in Hoboken, Jersey City, Fort Lee, Englewood, Morristown, and Livingston. The bank has plans to continue its New Jersey expansion throughout 2006 with additional branches opening soon in towns including Summit, Ridgewood, Westfield and Freehold.

"By adding ATM access points  in Walgreens stores, we're exponentially increasing the number of locations in New Jersey where our customers can access their accounts on a surcharge-free basis," said Seamus McMahon, president of the HSBC's Atlantic region, which includes New Jersey, Florida, Washington, D.C., Delaware and Pennsylvania.. "The addition of 59 ATM locations is a natural complement to HSBC's ongoing New Jersey expansion efforts."
