HSBC "Star Performer" Earns $60,000 in Rewards
Local Employee Recognized as One of Nine Top HSBC Credit Counsellors Worldwide

Pomona, Calif., January 31, 2006 – HSBC North America Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HBC) presented a 4-Star Performance Award of $50,000 cash, plus $10,000 in HSBC stock, to Margie Bustamante during a celebration at the HSBC site last Thursday.
Each year, HSBC selects nine credit counsellors and bankruptcy specialists worldwide to receive 4-Star Performance Awards for going above and beyond their regular duties to build lasting customer partnerships and contribute to the company’s overall success.
Margie’s award recognizes how she leads by example and mentors her co-workers. She consistently surpasses expectations, raising the performance level of every team she joins.
"Margie’s contribution to HSBC is not limited to simply producing exceptional quality and productivity," said Amy Salas, Unit Manager, HSBC Consumer Lending in Pomona. "She is a powerful coach with a hands-on approach to training. She’s also quick to learn the process, procedures and expectations of each assignment."
Margie is also an active member of her community. In 2005, Margie played an important role in many HSBC campaigns including United Way, Junior Achievement, the City of Hope Blood Drive and Helping Hand’s Backpack Program for Children in Need.
