HSBC North America Holdings Recognized by Fortune, Working Mother and Hispanic Business
14 November 2005
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, Ill. Fortune magazine announced today that HSBC – North America, a leading financial services company, earned a place on its list of Top 50 Employers for Women. The fact that women make up 61 percent of HSBC’s workforce and 43 percent of the management population was a key factor in the award determination.
“HSBC's policies and programs support the efforts of our employees who balance work and non-work responsibilities,” said Sandra Tipton, HSBC - North America’s vice president of benefit design and human resources policy. “Flexible working arrangements, on-site health screenings and our time off program are part of the world-class benefits package we have established for our HSBC employees. Many sites have on-site daycare centers, dry-cleaning services and fitness centers to make life – and work – more convenient.”
Earlier this year, HSBC earned a place on Working Mother magazine’s 2005 list of 100 Best Companies for its support of women in the workplace.
Additionally, in recognition of HSBC’s diverse workforce, of which minorities comprise 37 percent, the company earned Hispanic Business magazine’s Top 40 Companies for Hispanics award.
“We are honored that our company is being recognized for our commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity. That commitment is underscored in every decision we make,” said Maia Davis-Singleton, HSBC - North America's director of diversity initiatives. “As one of the largest financial services companies in the U.S. and Canada, we realize that all of our employees make unique contributions, and those contributions are critical to our business success.”
