Big Brothers/Big Sisters to receive $1,000 New Neighbor Award At Thursday's opening of HFC branch office in Tamarac
| WHAT: | Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Broward County, Inc. will receive a $1,000 New Neighbor Award from Household Finance Corporation (HFC) during the grand opening ceremonies for a new HFC branch office at Three Lakes Plaza in Tamarac, Fla., on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004. HFC is a business unit of Household International, Inc.
This new HFC branch, the company's 35th Florida location, will bring a wide range of financial services to Tamarac-area residents, including personal loans, real estate loans, automobile financing and insurance services, according to branch sales manager Trent Hoover. Big Brothers/Big Sisters plans to use the HFC grant to support its Little Buddies program. Presently, there are 128 Broward County children that have been accepted into this program, but have yet to be matched with a mentor. Little Buddies provides transitional programs in small groups for these children pending their match up with a Big Brother or Big Sister. |

About the New Neighbor Award
The New Neighbor Award is a component of HFC's nationwide Help for Communities program. This initiative provides support to locally based nonprofit agencies serving seniors, children, minorities and low-income families in the communities HFC serves. Programs supported by HFC include financial literacy, youth education, community enrichment, housing and economic development - "neighbors helping neighbors" in communities across America.
