Formed in 2001, the Board advises Household's management on legislative, community, and philanthropic activities and has played a key role in developing the company's industry-leading consumer protection initiatives. According to Household's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William F. Aldinger, Household's far-reaching consumer protection and compliance policies "are setting a new standard for the consumer lending industry." During 2003, the Consumer Advisory Board will work with the company on initiatives including financial education, community partnerships, and legislation.

In addition to former Congressman LaFalce, Household's blue ribbon panel includes former Senator Connie Mack (R-FL), former White House chief of staff Thomas "Mack" McLarty, Democratic National Committee vice chair Lottie Shackelford, former California State Senator Art Torres, and Ohio State University College of Law Professor Vincene Verdun.
